Phantom

Ruahine Phantom

The Phantom (formerly made by Wildabout Kayaks) is an advanced level multisport kayak. It's been designed with speed in mind and is the perfect compliment to our popular F1 - at this level elite paddlers will appreciate having some choice.  The streamlined bow allows the boat to carve through the bigger waves while and not take a backward step. The Phantom has a large turn up at the nose to prevent boil grab and allows it to ride up on top of the boils/eddy's and carry on in its desired direction.

Features include:

  • An elevated cockpit for easy entry, exit and to deflect waves away.
  • Narrow through the catch area allowing you to get your paddle in nice and close for a more efficient stroke
  • Recessed at the rear to allow the rudder to be nice and close to reduce drag.

Tims Notes:

This is a top level racing kayak and suited for the most advanced paddlers. At this level we know that you'll have some specifications so we custom build these kayaks to your requirements. Things like the seat, rudder, materials and colours are all adjustable so get in touch and let us know what you're thinking.

Things You Need To Know...

Demo - we have a demo kayak available in Tauranga so get in touch if you'd like to go for a spin.

Ordering - we work on a 3-4 week turnaround. In many cases we will be able to supply before the three weeks is up however, these are a hand-made product so they do take time to produce and we often have multiple orders in the system. we will advise you of an eta at the time of ordering.

Shipping and Pickup- we are based in Mount Maunganui and kayaks can be picked up directly from my workshop. Shipping throughout NZ and the world and will be charged at cost. Please ask for an estimate.\

Composite Colours – all of our composite kayaks have an exposed hull (clear gelcoat) to show off the beauty of the fibres. The deck is your choice of colour just like the fiberglass model. We prefer to have this coloured to prevent the sun from heating it up too much but if you wish I can also do the top with a clear coat.
